Some of you may have heard me talk about a tour this summer. I was shooting my mouth off about a tour featuring me and Superego. “We’ll be going all over the place,” I said, “the U.S., Canada, probably most of Europe, the moon.” I really made it sound great. And it will be!
Just not this year. For reasons not entirely beyond my control, but mostly, the tour did not come together this year. But that just means we’ve got a head start on next year! Look out, moon! We’re coming for you in ‘15!
But guess what? If you live in Charleston, South Carolina (or its environs), you will be the only people that will get to see this thing in 2014.
What is this thing, anyway? It’s:
PAUL F. TOMPKINS and SUPEREGO combine for an evening of improvised standup, sketches, and surprise guests. ALL unscripted and absolutely in the moment.
Exclusively at Theatre 99, Charleston, SC. This will be the most momentous thing to happen above a bicycle shop since June 15, 1215, when King John affixed his seal to the Magna Carta!

I was pleased as a pigfoot to appear as a character on the very first episode of The Andy Daly Podcast Pilot Project. Absolutely two of the most enjoyable hours I have ever spent doing anything. Andy Daly is nothing short of a master character comedian, and working with him was pure delight. Also along for this insane ride are the brilliant Betsy Sodaro, Sean Conroy and Superego (Matt Gourley, Jeremy Carter and Mark McConville, with James Bladon) as The Journeymen.
You will love this. And post-listen, be sure to take The Dalton Wilcox Challenge. Also be sure to watch Andy Daly’s Comedy Central show, Review.

Thanks to Jeremy Carter, for no particular reason.
When I was a kid, if Superego had been around, I would have been thrilled to watch a full-fledged Superego sketch show on television. Now that I am an adult, and Superego actually is around, I can safely say I would be thrilled to watch a full-fledged Superego sketch show on television.
Starring Matt Gourley and Mark McConville

I asked Instagram and Twitter if anyone out there who could read music would be able to tell me what the melody was that is depicted in the Sunset & Vine Trader Joe’s parking lot mural. I received many responses, mostly jokes (expected), a few “this is just gibberish”es (had a suspicion) but! A couple tries at actually playing the thing!
Here’s a response from Superego's James Bladon. This is a haunting melody! Take that, The Social Network soundtrack and that one Philip Glass song from Battlestar Galactica!

Be sure to pick up Superego’s country album, Mount Us More by their alter egos, The Journeymen!
