David Rees first came to fame as the author of Get Your War On, a Bush-era comic strip composed from clip-art. It was eventually serialized by Rolling Stone magazine, collected into three successful books, and turned into an off-Broadway play. He is also the author of My New Fighting Technique is Unstoppable and My New Filing Technique is Unstoppable. David gave up cartooning to pursue his dream of sharpening pencils. Since the launch of www.artisanalpencilsharpening.com, he has sharpened more than 450 pencils for clients. He has literally sharpened a pencil in a Jamaican waterfall. He has performed at the HBO Comedy Festival, the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, Solid Sound Festival, and many other festivals and places.

Minnesota Public Radio presents Wits™ with Paul F. Tompkins and Aimee Mann at the Fitzgerald Theater on Friday, May 11th at 8:00 p.m.

With two seasons under our belt, Wits is preparing for an incredible spring season, bringing some of the country's funniest storytellers and musicians to the Fitzgerald Theater. Host John Moe engages his guests in a raucous discussion and the audience can join in conversation on Twitter.

Paul F. Tompkins is one of the most charming and quick-witted comedians working today. He's recorded four stand-up specials for Comedy Central, and he puts out a monthly podcast called The Pod F. Tompkast -- number 1 in Rolling Stone's list of 10 Best Comedy Podcasts of the moment.

From her work in the 80's with MTV favorite 'Til Tuesday through her acclaimed solo discs Whatever and I'm With Stupid in the 90s, Aimee Mann has always been at the forefront of contemporary songwriters. Aimee was nominated for an Academy Award and a Grammy for her songs on the movie Magnolia.

Shows start at 8:00 p.m., but the party starts early. Come at 7:00 p.m. for the Tweet-up. Current DJ Barb Abney will spin some song and you can get yourself one of our drink specials. After the show, we keep the lights on and the bar open, so everyone can join in the conversation and have a Tina Louise.

Wits Season Ticket Packages go on sale through the MPR Box Office on Tuesday, February 14th at noon. You can purchase a full season ticket package to all six Wits or create your own package to a minimum of four shows. When you purchase the Six-Show Package or the Choose-Your-Own-Show Package you will receive a $5.00 discount off the price of each single show ticket.
