American Aquarium Drinker: Everybody shut the fuck up about Kidz Bop. → daveholmes.tumblr.com

daveholmes:

Too many people have linked to today’s inane Spin & Buzzfeed posts, wherein grown-up adult-type professional writers have registered their dissatisfaction with Kidz Bop’s version of Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop.”

You guys: Kidz Bop is not for you. It is, as its name makes plain, for kidz. Not even…

“Blurred Lines” was produced by Thicke and Williams with an intention of creating a sound similar to Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up”. The song was completed in almost an hour.[3] In an interview with GQ, Thicke explained: “Pharrell and I were in the studio and […] I was like, ‘Damn, we should make something like that [Got to Give It Up], something with that groove.’ Then he started playing a little something and we literally wrote the song in about a half hour and recorded it. Him and I would go back and forth where I’d sing a line and he’d be like, ‘Hey, hey, hey!’ We started acting like we were two old men on a porch hollering at girls like, ‘Hey, where you going, girl? Come over here!’” On being quizzed about the racy content of the song, Thicke responded: “We tried to do everything that was taboo. Bestiality, drug injections, and everything that is completely derogatory towards women. Because all three of us are happily married with children, we were like, ‘We’re the perfect guys to make fun of this.’ People say, ‘Hey, do you think this is degrading to women?’ I’m like, ‘Of course it is. What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman. I’ve never gotten to do that before. I’ve always respected women.’”[4] In a separate interview, Thicke clarified the meaning of the song’s title, saying it referred to “the good-girl/bad-girl thing and what’s appropriate.”[5]” —

What fun!  Sounds like a fun time with two fun guys.

“I got interested in how we hold our heads still when we run. It began when my colleagues and I were doing some experiments with pigs as models. It is very uncomfortable to watch a pig run: Its head bobs all over the place.” —Daniel Lieberman long-distance running: We evolved endurance and dislike of running. - Slate Magazine (via mikeeaglestinks)

jslo21:

Is there any reason why “Beyond Belief” of The Thrilling Adventure Hour” couldn’t be made into a sitcom? There is great writing, amazingly great comedic timing with Paul & Paget and great secondary characters within the plot. Hopefully, as the show’s awareness is growing with the FREE podcast, a…
